VELUX® Windows and Roofing in Mellor

Homes and roofs in Mellor

Mellor's housing is a mix of traditional stone farmhouses and cottages, barn conversions, Victorian houses and later detached homes on generous plots. Many older buildings have stone slate or Welsh slate roofs, while newer homes are typically tiled. Barn conversions often rely on roof windows for light.

Exposed hillside living

At this height, wind-driven rain and occasional snow test every part of a roof. Flashings, ridges and verges need to be robust, and roof windows benefit from regular servicing to keep seals and flashings clear. Mellor's history goes back a very long way, and some buildings are listed or in conservation areas, so consents may be needed.

Barn conversions in and around Mellor often have conservation-style roof windows that sit flush with the roof. We can repair or replace these, upgrade their glazing and add electric or solar operation where windows are hard to reach.
