VELUX Windows
VELUX® Sun Tunnel Installation across Manchester and Cheshire
Where a roof window isn't practical, a sun tunnel can bring daylight into the darkest parts of a home. We install VELUX sun tunnels in hallways, landings, bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes and other windowless spaces across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

How a sun tunnel works
A clear dome or glazed panel on the roof collects daylight, which is reflected down a highly reflective tube to a diffuser in the ceiling below. The diffuser spreads the light evenly across the room, so the space feels naturally lit during the day without any electricity.
Rigid or flexible tunnels
Rigid tunnels deliver the most light and suit longer or straighter runs from the roof to the ceiling. Flexible tunnels are useful for short runs where the route has to bend around obstacles in the loft. We look at the distance, the roof structure and any obstructions before recommending the right type.
There are versions for both pitched roofs and flat roofs, so a sun tunnel can be added to most houses and many extensions.
Where sun tunnels help most
- Hallways and landings in the middle of the house
- Bathrooms and en-suites without windows
- Walk-in wardrobes, utility rooms and box rooms
- Single-storey extensions where the back of the room is dark
- Spaces where a roof window isn't possible or permitted
Installation
Most sun tunnels are installed in a day. We fit the roof flashing to suit your slates or tiles, run the tunnel through the loft and finish the diffuser neatly in the ceiling. Light levels depend on the length of the run and the number of bends, so we will give you a realistic idea of what to expect before you go ahead.

Frequently asked questions
Will a sun tunnel make a room as bright as a window?
A sun tunnel won't give a view, and the light it delivers depends on the tunnel length, bends and the weather. In a hallway or bathroom it can make a dark space feel naturally lit for much of the day.
Do sun tunnels let heat escape?
Sun tunnels are designed with insulated components and sealed diffusers to limit heat loss. We make sure the loft insulation is made good around the tunnel.
Can a sun tunnel be fitted to a flat roof?
Yes. Flat roof versions are available and are often used on single-storey extensions.
