Who we are
Tru Skylights Limited (company number 13737956), Grosvenor House, Chapel Street, Congleton, Cheshire, CW12 4AB, is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact us at hello@truskylightinstalls.co.uk or on 0800 368 2988.
What we collect
When you request a quote or send us a message through this website, we collect:
- your name, telephone number and email address
- the postcode of the property
- the service you need and your description of the work
- any optional details you choose to give, such as whether you are a homeowner or landlord, the roof type, or roof window codes
- up to three photographs, if you choose to upload them
- the page of our website you sent the request from, and the date and time
If you phone or email us directly, we keep the details you give us in the same way.
How we use your information
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, arrange a survey if one is needed and, if you go ahead, carry out and support the work. We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not sell or share them with anyone for their own purposes.
Our lawful basis
We process your information because you have asked us to take steps before entering into a contract (preparing a quote), to perform a contract with you if you go ahead, and for our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and running our business. Where we keep records for tax, accounting or legal reasons, we do so to comply with our legal obligations.
How your enquiry reaches us
When you submit the form, your details and any photographs are checked by our website and sent as a single email to our business mailbox. Where your browser supports it, photographs are reduced in size before they are sent. Nothing you submit is stored in a database on this website.
The following service providers process information on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Vercel Inc. hosts this website and runs the form that sends your enquiry.
- Resend delivers the enquiry email to our mailbox. It keeps a copy of sent emails for a short period (currently 30 days) for delivery and troubleshooting.
- Microsoft provides our business email service, where enquiries are received and stored.
Some of these providers are based in, or may process data in, the United States. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US data bridge where the provider is certified) or by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiries that don’t lead to work, including quotes that are not accepted and enquiries that are not followed up, are kept for up to 24 months from our last contact with you and then deleted, unless there is a legitimate reason to keep them longer, such as resolving a complaint or a legal claim.
- Records of completed work, such as quotes, invoices and job details, are kept for as long as we need them for contractual, accounting, tax and legal purposes. For example, HMRC generally requires business records to be kept for six years.
- Photographs are kept only for as long as they are needed for the enquiry or the work they relate to. Photographs sent with an enquiry that doesn’t lead to work are deleted with that enquiry.
Keeping your information secure
This website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to our mailbox is restricted to people who need it to deal with your enquiry or work.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it. In some cases you can ask us to transfer it to you or another organisation. Contact us using the details above and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
