All roofing servicesManchester's housing, street by street
Terraced streets in Levenshulme, Longsight, Gorton, Rusholme and Moss Side date mostly from the late Victorian and Edwardian years. Many have had loft conversions, with roof windows on the rear slope, and many still have their original slate roofs.
Chorlton, Didsbury, West Didsbury and Withington add larger Edwardian semis and terraces with bay windows, valleys and tall chimneys. Whalley Range and Victoria Park have substantial Victorian villas, and parts of Chorlton, Didsbury and Victoria Park lie within conservation areas.
Wythenshawe was laid out as a garden city from the late 1920s, so its homes are largely inter-war and post-war semis and terraces with tiled roofs. In and around the city centre, Ancoats and the Northern Quarter combine mill conversions with modern apartment blocks, where roof work is usually arranged through managing agents.
Rental homes and student areas
Fallowfield, Withington, Rusholme and Victoria Park have a high proportion of shared and student housing. Roof windows in top-floor rooms take a lot of use and are a common source of damp complaints. We can quote from tenant photos, deal with access directly and keep landlords and agents informed.

Questions about our work in Manchester
Which parts of Manchester do you cover?
All of the City of Manchester, including Didsbury, Chorlton, Withington, Fallowfield, Levenshulme, Burnage, Northenden, Wythenshawe, Gorton, Openshaw, Moston, Blackley, Crumpsall, Cheetham Hill and the city centre.
Can you add roof windows to a terraced house loft?
Usually, yes. Roof windows on the rear slope of a house normally fall under permitted development, provided they do not project more than 150mm from the roof plane. Flats, listed buildings and properties covered by an Article 4 direction are different, so check with Manchester City Council if any of those apply.
Do you work on apartment blocks?
Yes. For apartments and mixed-use buildings we normally work with the managing agent or freeholder, as roof and window repairs are usually their responsibility.
