VELUX® Windows and Roofing in Dobcross

Homes and roofs in Dobcross

Dobcross's square and lanes are lined with gritstone cottages and houses, many dating from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with stone slate or Welsh slate roofs. Later homes sit on the edges of the village, and farmhouses and barns are scattered on the surrounding slopes.

A protected village

Dobcross is a conservation area, and a number of its buildings are listed. Repairs should use matching stone or slate, and roof windows on prominent slopes are likely to need permission. Conservation-style windows that sit flush with the roof are often the most appropriate choice.

The hillside position exposes the village to wind and rain from the moors, so flashings and chimney stacks need regular attention. We'll explain what we find with photographs and give you a written quote before any work begins.
