VELUX® Windows and Roofing in Eccles

Homes and roofs in Eccles

The streets around the town centre and Patricroft are lined with Victorian and Edwardian terraces, mostly roofed in natural slate with rear outriggers. Further out, inter-war semis with tiled roofs are common, and there are post-war estates and newer developments, especially towards Barton and Peel Green. Loft conversions are a popular way of adding space in the terraces.

Terraces, semis and the Ship Canal

Homes near the Ship Canal and the open ground around Barton are more exposed to westerly wind and rain, which tests flashings, ridges and roof window seals. On the terraces, slipped slates, shared chimney stacks and outrigger roofs are the common repairs.

Many Eccles homes are rented, and we work regularly with landlords and agents, quoting from photos and arranging access with tenants. For homeowners, we're happy to talk through the options for a loft conversion, from rear-slope roof windows to dormers.
